The Kings Return (USA)

The dynamic four-member vocal group Kings Return creates a diverse but highly cohesive a cappella sound. Their R&B is interwoven with swinging jazz, soulful bursts of gospel and bright hints of pop – all built on a solid, classical foundation.

Womens’s Chamber Choir Hera

The passion for singing challenging music at a high level is what unites the singers of Women’s Chamber Choir Hera. Founded in 2019 by conductor Raghna Wissink, the ensemble has performed interesting, polyphonic, classical and contemporary a cappella repertoire at a very advanced level from the start.

Maze Voices

A groovy, innovative XL vocal group with mixed voices, ages and backgrounds led by choral leadership guru Merel Martens.

MAZE Voices is an a cappella family with 22 talented singers. Their innovative style and pop-rock energy splashes off the stage and is infectious!

Hans Cassa

Hans is a singer, musician, arranger, translator and conductor with years of epxerience, most of it in higher education. He is known for inspiring vocakl and choral workshops based on the simple belief that singing in a group is a matter of give and take. Giving with your voice and taking with your ears, because they cannot do without each other.

Vocal Painting Opera

Blank Slate by Irish composer Seán Doherty is an interactive choral opera learned through vocal painting, a singing method in which the conductor uses gestures to guide a choir in creating dynamic, spontaneous and improvised vocal expressions. In this way, everyone participates directly in both the creation of the music and the action on stage.

This technique is like a form of live musical ‘painting’ using the human voice as the primary instrument. This has been common before in an improvisational context, but at The Big Sing it will be used for the very first time in the dramatic context of a new opera Blank Slate, a result of an international collaboration between composer and experts Merel Martens (Netherlands) and Peder Karlsson (Sweden), Stephan Lutermann and Lars Scheibner (CHOREOS ensemble, Germany).
